  • Is it time to get rid all of my old cards

Posted by Yasser Amin on May 6, 2010 at 7:21 pm

    Hello

    I have 3 station with 3 Declink Extreme PCI-X
    each one Windows7 32 Bit + CS4 + 4G Ram

Now CS5 is native 64 bit and DeckLink_Windows_7.6.2 driver support CS5

I know that there is a problem with this cards and Windows 64 bit with 4G ram “not working at all”
    and can’t reduce my memory to 2G “have 2 X 2G ram”

Is the solution is to get rid of my 3 Declink Extreme PCI-X cards or I will get another solution from Decklink support guys

    regards

As far as I am aware the “4Gb RAM and card not working at all” in a 64 bit OS happens only with PCI versions of the cards.

Not sure about PCI-X versions of the cards though, as I only experienced this with PCI versions of older Decklink SP cards.

    Hello nicky

    thank you for replay

in a 64 bit OS happens only with PCI versions of the cards.

PCI-X cards working in PCI and PCI-X slot and have the same problem with 64bit windows “test it in Vista 64”

am looking now for a solution to reduce the memory from 4G to 3G by bios or by increase hardware reserved memory in windows 7

    Does anyone has a suggestion

still waiting for Decklink support guys opinion

    regards

    Hi Yasser,

Unfortunately, the PCI cards will not be able to support more than 4GB of RAM in a 64-bit operating system. This is not likely to change but all the current PCIe cards available now will work fine.

You could potentially setup a few cheaper logging or capture workstations with the older cards.

any way I solved my problem and all cards working now and I will not rid of my cards, but sure I will add a new HD workstation
