It’s easier to se if the contrastlevels are similar if there are no colors. So I’m wondering if there is an option to disable the colors while setting the nodes for the contrast, and then turn them back on to do the color work afterwords? I realize that I could just copy paste a node with no saturation onto all the clips. But perhaps there is an easier way, or perhaps this is not really a good idea. Any thoughs.

You could switch you broadcast monitor to monochrome

What Paul said, but if you want an in Resolve solution, you could set a Track correction using the Monochrome setting in the Color Mixer.
