  • Is it possible to import poly wav files into Vegas 12?

Posted by Joel Clark on April 14, 2014 at 12:18 am

    Hello,

I just finished a rather large shoot and my audio guy was far more professional than I am used to. he gave me poly wav files which I had never heard of before. After some study I now know what they are, but I can’t figure out how to import them into Sony Vegas 12. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try going to File, then Import, then Broadcast Wave Format and see
    if that does the trick.

    No sir… didn’t work.

From everything I am reading, Vegas should play these files easily.

I did read something about AA Translator. Do I need to install it?

Joel, download and install Wave Agent from Sound Devices. It’s a free utility to allow you to import poly files from professional audio recorders such as the Sound Devices 702, 702T, 722, 744T and 788T recorders.
You will need to register to be able to download it but Sound Devices is a very reputable company.
Once you install it, open it and drop your file(s) on it. There’s an option to Split/Combine. Select this one, choose a folder location and process the file. The result will be a series of WAV files that you can then load into Vegas.

A PDF user guide is available but I didn’t need it after viewing the video on Vimeo.

What does the free MediaInfo utility say about your WAV file(s)?

I have imported a multi track WAV file into Vegas 12 B770. I only tried this once with one file so that may not mean much.

So I downloaded a sample file from this site and it loads for me. I downloaded the 8 track 48K sample. Does this file load for you?
