Hi,
I am a newbie trying to get some info for a HD digital film.What I got from net in summary is :1. Shoot the film on HD camera (Sony Cinelata or Varicam or Sony XDCAM) in 24p.
2. Digitise the footage Kona 2/3 card (uncompressed HD) or XDCAM files into FCP.
3.Do the edit
4. Send the output by creating TGA seq files to the processing lab for DI ie colour grading,Digital opticals etc and final print.(Audio as wav file)But what I read from Kona site :

Absolutely using Color. That’s what it was designed for in it’s original incarnation as Final Touch.

Nope, I haven’t worked with DPX files here in the shop, just played with it at NAB while I was working in the AJA booth. But I’ve been working with Final Touch / Color almost two years now and Export to DPX is one of the options.
I would suggest you post this question in Color forum as we have some really good folks there who can explain the process. Or better yet, search the Color forum for DPX as someone may have already posted the process.

That’s a question for a film lab. May labs will test new cameras as they come on the market to see what the characteristics are when transferred to film. If you speak to some labs, you may be able to arrange a screening comparing some of the cameras that you’re considering.
Also, be aware that every lab has its own way of doing things, and a particular lab may do a better job with a particular camera or format. It’s worth speaking to labs in depth about this very early in preproduction.
Du Art in New York runs a regular screening program for film makers to view transfers to 35mm from different digital cameras. It’s well worth attending a few of these screenings, since you need to learn how to look at the material over time.
