    Hello,

I am editing on a 17 PB with an ext Lacie HD. I have all my vid on the ext HD and it seems I need to dump prefs as FCP 4.5 seems wierd. All of the plugin, Boris RED, BCC 3 and some others are not working properly, some video has a green line on it in the TL although I have done nothing to it. My questions are is it ok to dump and what will I loose? I have only audio and rough cuts completed, but do not want to loose them or start all over. I have nothing special in the favorites bins. Will my cuts still be there and or what else would I loose…thanks. Other advice…

    Coach

Also, should I back up the FCP icon linked to this project onto the ext HD before I dump?

    Thanks.

    Coach,

We dump prefs all the time. You will have to restore your user settings and scratch discs and window layouts, but a better way to go is get FCP Rescue which is free.

    Chris,

Did the dump, all seems very well except a few clips in the TL with green above them. I have done nothing to them. What should I check to see if I accidently did something. I have been editing for 4 years and cannot figure this one out.

    Coach,

Green means it’s rendered and should be okay. Does it play out to your monitor? Don’t think you did anything wrong.

Yes, it all plays fine but it will have to rendered out for final out put even though it is a plain video clip. kind of wierd but oh well…thanks for the help. Also, it is a little choppy in the viewer when looking at the master clip.

    Coach,

Don’t trust the viewer, watch on a monitor.
