i j ust got AE 7 and have not read the boards, but is it me or does AE 7 have too many bugs?

all i have done so far is a simple splicing of an AVI file that i imported to match up to an AIFF audio file. that is it, and i get these errors about not being able to ram preview audio because the comp is too long, cant export WMV files without errors, the ram preview not letting me hear audio anymore and saying Locking Frames instead of Muxing Audio for preview, etc.

i have to reboot the software to get rid of these things.

what is the deal? i am doing the most simple of editing on this thing, and worry that anything more complex would have even more errors.

i feel like trashing this software and using 6.5 instead.

anyone else feeling this way or is there some patches out there to fix this stuff?

i was having those problems too, called adobe and they told me to change my “maximum RAM cache size” from 100% to 60%…. seemed to have worked. still alot of crashing, but better than before.

There seem to be a few bugs, as seen by the posts here, yes. I can only guess that it’s limited to the Windows release, as my Mac release has been pretty well-behaved so far. So I might not upgrade my Windows box until the dot release comes out.

Rest assured, Adobe keeps an eye on this forum, and a lot of 6 and 6.5 issues were solved by dot releases, if I recall. Sorry you’re having troubles, though.

mine is at 60%. but i did have my Maximum Memory Usage at 150%. i just put it to 100% to see if that will help.

anyone know of proper numbers for those fields?

I have found that they use the new OPENGL 2.0 system for AE7, and it freaked my AE up totally. Until that I took of the switch I had turned on “DLL defrag…” in Memory/Ramcache.
Now it runs stable. It might be because the AE7 is made for very new GFcards.

In the manual it says that this option should be turned of it you experience crashes.. dont know if you have it on, but it helped for me.

The Adobe Updater downloaded an AE7 Hotfix on my Windows machine a couple of days ago…you might want to double check and see if you’re up to date. Perhaps they’ve addressed an issue related to your problem.
