[Itamar Kool] “I think it is something really stupid and simple. “

Most likely. Canyou tell me exactly what it is you are doing? I’d like to try and reproduce it.

I simply place one clip on top of the other, go to the motion tab and to the crop section, take about 80 of the bottom and about 80 of the top. I did distort about -20. I get a green line and play it; no problem. Click on the upper clip and do control R. Upper clip disappears. When I change the crop back to 0 and do control R, I get a grey line and the clip is still there and plays OK (distorted).
When I put distort back to ) but keep the crop and hit control R, the clip disappears when the render is finished. Oh how I wish the same thing happens in your system as wel 🙂 !!!!

    🙂

Sorry. Haven’t had time to test. Give me a little bit as I am about to set up a rather large encode and I will test it.

OK. Just did a test. When you set 80 for top and 80 for bottom (with the distort) it basically cuts out the whole image as you have crossed the crop points. the easiest way to do this is to select your top clip in the video track and hit enter to bring it in to the viewer, then once there, tear off the motion tab so that you can see the video while you work in the motion tab. You see if you move the bottom crop to 80 and then the top crop to 80, you have crossed the whole image. Try lowering your bottom crop to a value below 20 and you will see what I mean.

Hi Jeremy, I still do not understand completely. And it is also very strange that it works if I play it real time but that it is gone when I render it, isn’t it?

[Itamar Kool] “And it is also very strange that it works if I play it real time but that it is gone when I render it, isn’t it?”

It’s a bit buggish. In After Effects (for example) if you pull the top of a mask over the bottom of the mask, it will still reveal the image. In FCP, it will do this in rt, but as soon as you render, it’s as if the image disappears because the top of the ‘mask’ (or crop) is pulled over the bottom. Did you tear off the motion tab and play with it? If the top is set for 80, the bottom needs to be set for 19 or below to see it. Basically, the crop value of the top and bottom needs to add up to less than 100 in order to see an image. 100 or over results in totally cropping out the entire image.

    Make sense?

Jeremy, now I really get it!! Thank you very much. It is all clear now to me. So it really is very simple (and stupid).
