So the updated iMac can be had with a 10 core I9 processor that will operate at up to 5 gigahertz. You can also upgrade the RAM yourself for significantly less than Apple sells it. But, the iMac Pro comes with 10-core Xeon processors, at 4.5 gigahertz. It also comes with error correcting memory. You cannot yet get the Nano textured screen with it. The other major difference is the Vega video cards. Is the 5600XT with 16GB comprable to the Vega Pro 56 with 8GB? I would be looking at getting an iMac with the best video card offered versus an iMac Pro with the base video card. Eventually I may upgrade the memory in the iMac Pro, but it comes with 32GB standard. If I go with the iMac I would just order the 8 gigabyte and immediately upgrade to either 64 or 128. I was originally looking at a MacBook Pro, but it’s just the processors are out of date and I would rather get 10th Generation I9 than 8th generation. It’s also got a mobile video card and obviously a lower-resolution screen. The only advantage would be portability.

    Hi Rich,

the most important feature of the IMacPro is that it has 4 full TB3 connections.
The IMac has just 1 full TB3 connection.

    cheers
