    Is FCP 5 backwards compatible with 4.5?

    I started a project in 4.5 and just got 5 in the mail. I want to upgrade, but the director I’m working with still has just 4.5 and he needs to be able to open up the cut on his laptop. Will he be able to? Does 5 convert the projects?

    No. FCP4.5 cannot open an FCP5 project.

    Hi Christian,

    Seeing as FCP 4.5 supports XML version 1.0 and FCP 5.0 supports both XML version 1 and 2, I would think its perfectly possibly to export an XML of your edit or bin info and just select the version 1.0 XML format.

    Have not received our upgrade yet, so can’t test it but I would bet its possible,
