Is Dynamic Link My Friend?
Hi Gang –
I am battling with importing/exporting clips back and forth from Adobe Premiere to After Effects and back.
Tried to do this via dynamic link but it slows the whole system down. Are there any hidden settings I should be aware of? or should I just render out my AE comps and then import them into Premiere as individual clips?
In that case what render formats should I use?thanks a ton!

DL can be a hassle/issue at times. Which version of AE are you using? DL is supposed to be improved in CS6.
A workaround is to copy the clips from PPro and paste them into an AE Timeline.

I am using PR and AE CS5. Some people recommended copying AE compositions into Pr directly. Would that run a hidden instance of After Effects, thus eating up memory and CPU?
I am mostly concerned of performance.thanks for the help!

In CS5, PPro, AE, Encore and Media Encoder all share the same memory space. So, having both apps open will not increase memory requirements over what is set in the Memory & Multi Processing preferences.

that makes sense. I found that things are REALLY bogged down with even copying comps into PrP 5 since at that point a dynamic link is created and I am back in the same boat again. Thing is that I don’t have an uber complicated AE comp so I don’t understand the super slowing down of PrP’s time line.
