  • Is Compressor Faster in 5.1.1

I’ve read in a couple of treads were “Compressor is finaly fixed in 5.1.1” Would it do a hour long 2pass VBR significantly faster than 5.04 on the same machine?
If so it’s time to send off my disks

I’m not sure how much faster it is, but it looks like they finally fixed the field dominance settings so those are correct on the first try. Regardless, at $49 now, you should send off the discs to get improved performance in FCP and be ready for any updates due from Apple soon.

Yes. It is now back to the same encoding time as the original version. It should take approximately twice as long as 1-pass on the same machine.

Will 5.1.1 make any difference on a PowerPC-based Mac? I was under the impression (perhaps mistaken) that this upgrade did little other than add Universal/Intel capability.

What other fixes does it address?

    Thanx for any info.
