Is avid the most well renown editing system?
I just wanted to know how often is Avid used in the industry compared to Final Cut or Premiere. I am still learning how to use Avid at my college, and I hope those skills look good on my resume.

Which industry? There are several. Broadcast TV and film? Yes, used often. Corporate video? Weddings? web only? Not so much.

you will have to know AVID, FCP, Premier – the entire Adobe Production Suite, encoding, file formats – basically, no one will hire you until your brain is exploding, and you come out of school screaming “I can’t take it anymore”. Then you are ready. And within the first 3 months of work out of school, something else will come out. And you will have to learn all over again – and again – until you are dead. And you will reflect on your life, and say “is this all I did – learn countless new programs, just so I can make
