Working on a documentary about photography.

Wondering if anyone knows of a plug in, or way to customize a FCP plug in, that allows for you to do a quick “shutter closing/ shutter opening” effect. THe iris tool in FCP is too smooth, as shutters are more imperfect in nature; not completely smooth.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Create a Photoshop image (matte) of a shutter.

Make it rather large (2160 pixels x 1620 pixels, or so) with a smallish “hole” (alpha channel) in the center.

Then “zoom” it out (looking thru the hole) and back in on an upper video track
and add SFX of motor-drive and/or click.

The large size will hold up better when you “zoom in” tight.
You can even rotate the image a bit as you zoom.
