Intrested in doing a spin off of Apples Ipod Silhoutted Dancers.
I’ve messed around in After Affects and have my dancers all black and matted.
But if you look at the commercials there are shades of gray and certain colors that come through along with the white of the ipod.
How do i go about letting the shades of gray come through and the white of the ipod show up?(if there is a simple answer)

    Quick answer: elbow grease.

I do recall reading that there was a ton of rotoscoping performed. Specifically, the iPod’s headphones cord was drawn over manually for each frame.

    Good luck!

If it were me, I’d shoot the spot with the dancers wearing some shiny black clothing, some not-so-shiny black clothing, and hit ’em with some light from the side to show reflections in the shiny clothing.

Many post-production problems are are solved in pre-production. 🙂
