  • iPhone Voice Memo can’t hear in Source window

    Hey Folks

I am recording audio using my iPhone voice memo app, I then load it onto my laptop for editing.

When I attempt to listen to the audio in the source monitor, I don’t hear any thing. I hear audio from other videos with sound clips. I can even hear other audio I purchased in the source window.

The only time I can hear the Voice Memo audio is when I drop it into the sequence and play the sequence.

    What am I missing?

What sort of file does your iphone make? specs.
And it could be that the audio is conforming while you are attempting to play it. Do you see a progress bar on the lower right of your PPro window? I occasionally import mpg files that I have to wait for the audio to conform. The longer the file, the longer it takes.
Like Dave said, you can always transcode to another audio format.

If you don’t see a progress bar in the lower right hand corner of PPro, when you are trying to preview the file, you may need to just transcode it. If you do see the progress bar saying conforming, just wait until it completes.
I’m guessing the iphone memo uses the AAC codec as well, which should be fine, but may have some other odd things going on with it.
    Good Luck!

I must not have seen the progress bar when I imported the files in.

When I previewed them in the source monitor last night they worked perfectly fine.

So thanks for telling about the progress bar. I will look for it next time.

And thanks for the kind replys!
I am using Lynda.com classes to get me up to speed but once in awhile I run into something I can’t figure out.

    Thanks
    David
