I’ve been having a problem for a while and I think it’s the Io That’s causing it:

I switch between AE and FCP a lot and everyonce in a while I’ll hide AE and I’ll go to Show FCP. When FCP comes back, I get the “Unable to open Video Device” screen (same as General Error in earlier versions of FCP). OK, so I hide FCP again, go to open up AE and my project won’t come back and I get the beachball for AE.

Sometimes this happens where FCP hangs and I can’t open AE’s output also.

Once I force quit AE everything is back to normal. Also, yesterday while doing a batch capture I got a no video input warning in FCP. The Io Control Panel says there is no video input. After I restarted the Io and the computer the control panel said the same thing but FCP captured fine. Odd.

    Thanks for any help-

Mac OS 10.3.9, Final Cut Pro 5.0.2, After Effects Pro 6.5.1, IoLA Most recent drivers and firmware, control panel 1.0, Kona 2

Try clicking on the desktop before switching applications. This should release the Io so it can be used by the new application.
