ioHD SD Codecs
Posted by Toby Risk on October 7, 2007 at 12:14 amHi
I am sure this one has been asked before but I can’t find the answers, I am tossing up between
buying the V3HD and the ioHD.What Standard Definition codecs does the IOHD support?
Is the proress 422 codec a full 1920 x 1080 frame, it looks as if the V3HD only handles 1440 x 1080?
Thanks
Toby

October 7, 2007 at 12:23 pmIoHD will allow capture to any SD codec or uncompressed.
ProRes is full raster so 1080i would be 1920×1080, 720p would be 1280×720. The V3HD aspect ratio for HD is bound to DVCProHD so that is why it is not full raster.

to my knowlege, there is no DVCProHD Codec available for the I/O HD, and the I/O HD will CERTAINLY not do uncompressed HD.
The selection in the I/O HD menus will be for ProRes422 and ProRes422HQ only, for HD (all SD should be available – but what the hell do I know – I would love to see an advanced pdf manual).Bob Zelin

October 7, 2007 at 7:00 pmWith Uncompressed I was only talking about SD.
I was told at NAB in the AJA booth that DVCProHD would also be a capture option for HD. But I was also told they would be shipping in July 🙂
Bob, do you think we will need a black burst with this? 🙂 Just joking I think I know your answer to that.

With a fast enough machine, you will be able to both ingest and output DVCProHD with the ioHD. Yes, I know this isn’t in the documentation anywhere. Just trust me.

October 12, 2007 at 11:11 pmTaken from the AJA post on the ioHD shipping.
[AJA Sales Department] “- DVCProHD, 720 and 1080 formats, ingest and playout (CPU-based)
“Just for the sake of follow through.
