    Hello Friends

Ive just received our ioHD and i have plugged in my external time code generator to the LTC input port on the back.

I have now opened control panel and set my timecode by selecting LTC port.

Should I see the display now show my timecode counting up, because it still says –:–:– ??

I know the TCG is working as I can hear it if I plug the output into a speaker.

I want to use this to feed Gallery PictureReady and this also shows –:–:– instead of my timecode (Because it uses the ioHD setting)

    Any ideas?

[Andy Horne] “Ive just received our ioHD and i have plugged in my external time code generator to the LTC input port on the back. “

    that would not correct.

LTC (sometimes called SLTC) is passed over HD/ SDI

try the Ref In port since your generator is not passing TC info in manner the IoHD can use,

and I am not sure if Picture Ready is supported as of yet.

    Response from AJA:

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your message. Unfortunately the LTC In functionality has not yet been implemented. There will be LTC support in a future release however we don’t have a timeline on when that will be available.

The only option right now is to use the AEC-uBox: https:// http://www.adrielec.com/aec-ubox.htm

Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

So dont buy this yet if you expect LTC in on the BNC Time Codeinput

Just to let you know, we worked around this by taking the TCG output (XLR) and feeding it straight into the audio line in on the mac with an XLR to Mini Jack cable. Picture Ready can pick it up on the left hand audio channel and this works fine, if you set Picture Ready to use LTC Port as its setting.

    Andy

did you even try my suggestion?

TCG’s do not all generate standard Ref signals and many of them do not send LTC with out configuring it specifically and are not necessarily the same as LTC as a camera.

The IoHD does currently support LTC input – Final Cut Pro does not.

I’m curious how MOTU is able to accomplish this then. LTC plugged into the bnc LTC input of the V3HD shows up fine in Final Cut Pro. Perhaps they have a way of making it think it’s coming in over RS-422?

No, LTC DOES work with the io. It might not work with the type of tc the generator is spitting out, but it does work. You can’t use FCP to capture it through LTC, but you can use VTR exchange.
