    HI all,

i have a pretty basic question about Io

I do alot of onsite editing with DVCam and i’d love to start working with 8 or 10bit.

    I don’t have a MacBook Pro…

Can i connect a laptop to the Io and caputure video via a beta/digibeta Deck? if so, what is the interface? FW400/800/USB 2.0?

Is there another AJA product that can do this? It would have to be compatible with a laptop

sorry for the basic questions, but i hope you can help?

What processor speed? ANything over 1Gig should be good.

I have used several G4 laptops with an IO for uncompressed SD footage. It works great. You will need a PCMCIA card adaptor hooked to to a 2 drive SATA raid if you need to move to 10 bit uncompressed, but you can get away with a FW800 PCMCIA adaptor and a FW800 raid0 array (such a 2 drive GRaid or Lacie array) for 8 bit stuff. SATA is cheaper and faster, none of them are secure as they are all raid0.

    Good luck!

thanks for your postings, they’re very helpful.

    so apart from buying a fast hard drive i shouldn’t need anything else ( i hvae a 1.6Ghz G4 laaptop with FW800)?

will a Lacie or Graid work good enuf for 8bit?

sorry for the stupid questions, i’m very new to this product…

    thx again for your helhp

As long as there are two or more drives in it. Make sure you get a FW800 PCMCIA card so that your io and fw drive aren’t sharing the same bus.

Don’t worry about the questions, it’s the reason this forum is here. Your questions are not stupid.
