IO HD Update
Here’s an internal memo, sent out by AJA to their resellers re: the Io HD:
AJA Reseller Bulletin, Io HD shipping delayed

Dear AJA Resellers and Distributors,
The Io HD will not ship today as we had originally planned. We have hit
some last minute engineering issues that require further testing. We want to
ship Io HD when it’s ready, not just on a pre-assigned date. We feel the
overall reliability for the end-user is paramount.Right now, it looks like we will ship late August or early September.
Our engineers are confident that we will ship before IBC or sooner, but we
cannot offer a revised ship date today, but will be able to in a week or
so.
All in all, the delay of the initial shipments will be only a matter of
weeks.During this time, our manufacturing group will not be slowing down, so
when we do ship Io HD, we will have built up and tested a large number of
units to ship on day one. This will really lessen the backlog duration. If we
had started shipping today, it would have been a smaller number of units
that would have slowly scaled up as the days and weeks progressed. Now, we
can ship more to you within a smaller lead time, lessening the overall
backorder time significantly.We fully appreciate the inconvenience this may be causing you and your
clients, but hopefully you agree with our decision to slightly delay the
initial shipments to gain a more solid version 1.0 product. We will let
you know when the revised ship date is firmly established.Our current products are not affected by this delay, so the entire KONA,
XENA, and Converter lineup are in-stock and ready to go!As always, we are here to assist you in any way we can. Please feel free

AJA Video SystemsIt all sounds pretty reasonable to me. I’m in the lineup now to buy one, but I’m going to keep my old system around for awhile just in case things are a little buggy out of the gate.
