With the new 17″ MBP with the i7 process, is it capable of capturing 1080 Prores HQ now with the IO Express?

Surely. Get yourself a fast fw800 drive and you should be good.

Thanks, I plan on replacing the dvd drive in the computer with a 7200rpm sata drive.
