I ran into something similar I described in “My Audio Misadventures”.
Will you please try this and tell me if it works. It did for me.
The clip that’s playing beyond its edit boundary… replace it with itself.
To do this, I select the clip, then move the skimmer/white line to the start of the clip. Hit SHFT-F to match-frame the clip in the event browser. Hit “I” to set this matched frame as the in-point, drag this back onto itself in the timeline, and when the menu comes up, select “replace from start”.
This worked for me, and I’d be more than curious to see if it works for you.
This bug drove me crazy, and this was the only way I figured out how to deal with it, besides going back to FCP7 and starting over.
