This seemed like a great idea when it first occurred to me, but I think I’m missing an important step.

I’ve got an Illustrator file (a logo) broken into layers that I’ve animated together (pieces of the logo assemble together to create the whole logo) in AE 3D space. There’s also a camera move.

This part looks perfect just as it is.

My HOPE, was to then open the same Illustrator file in Invigorator, assign the various layers to layer sets, and layer track each layer set with it’s corresponding flat 3D layer in the same comp.

Needless to say, something has gone awry.

The Invigorator layer sets move correctly, but they’re not lined up with the originally animated flat layers, I’m not even sure they’re postioned the same in relation to each other.

I can only guess that I’ve missed an important step along the way, unless layer tracking just isn’t meant to work this way.

It seems as if the layer set anchor points are not where they are supposed to be. I was careful to make sure that each layer set’s center was right in the middle of the layer I was assigning it to though.

As always, any help is greatly appreciated.

You should have setup Invig’s layer tracking before animating your Illustrator layers. Once you’ve animated the AI layers, they aren’t dead center which is required in order for layer tracking to work correctly.

Your best bet is to set them up from scratch, one layer at a time. Also, the updating required is truly excruciating.

    Good Luck!

It’s that excruciating updating I was hoping to avoid.

My thought was to do all the keyframing and camera moves with the flat layers so I wouldn’t have to keep updating.

So are you saying that if I rebuild the whole comp, but start by linking the layer sets to the Illustrator layers BEFORE I animated them, it will work? I can live with that.
