    hello,

Im really sorry if im repeating somebody’s elses question but i dont seem to find a straight answer to this question… Does invigorator from zaxwerks allow me to create a 3D object
(say from a text for example)
and then allow me to move this 3D text entirely through my composition without actually using the plugin?

meaning, can I use the plugin JUST to turn something to 3D. and then move that object around in my composition by enabling it to be in 3D SPACE and through my comp’s camera?

from the best of my knowledge…if i use the comps cam to move the layer that has invigorator applied to it, and make that layer 3D SPACE ENABLED, it will still be a flat layer..?

thanks and sorry for being long…

    thanx for the help.

You can indeed use the Comp camera to move around the object in 3d. Just tick the option to “Use comp camera” in the invigorator plugin.
And you don’t need to turn the invigorator layer into a 3d layer. The 3D is handled in the plugin.

Ok, but what if for example i wanted to use ambient and spot lights that are in my compositions with that 3D layer… my problem is trying to make that 3D object be part of the rest of the composition, but as far as i know i can only control all that with invigorator which is slow and annoying… I’d like this layer to simply be a 3d object but still accept lights from the composition and so on..

    thanx for the help.

There’s also a checkbox in Invigorator that allows you to use composition lights. I think it’s right next to to the ‘use comp camera’ checkbox. Don’t make the mistake of turning on the 3D switch for the invig layer, as this mucks things up.

Invig doesn’t support depth of field, as far as I know, so if you want this AE camera feature you may be out of luck.

that’s a shame… i was interested in making it part of my composition…the rest of the elemnts hav elights on them, and its too complicated to make invigorator’s lights proper like th eones in the comp.

from what i can see and played with, you cant make lights on the invigorator layer to look like spot lights coming from far and ambient lights…or am i wrong?

    thanx for the help.
