I have imported a lot of .mpg’s from premiere pro 2 into encore 2. Encore see’s them as legal dvd formats and says not to transcode them. When I check the DVD, everything seems fine, however when I begin to build the dvd the problems begin. It will build up to a certain size and then stop and give me an error that says “Invalid MPEG file”. I thought this was from the playlist I created, but when I took that out the problem still exists. I retranscoded all of the files once in Encore and it burned the disc all the way thru, but the quality was the usual “jumpy” quality that Encore produces (which it seems a lot of people get from the native encoder).

So if anyone knows a solution or a direction to point me in that would be great.

    Thanks.

Do you check your files in external tools before loading them in Encore? Usually any stream problems show up this way – either the file doesn’t play at all or you can see artifacts on the damaged frames.
