This is a known issue: you’re trying to import some clips to FCP but it keeps crashing because their ImageDescription field is invalid/wrong.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem? Is this a bad metadata field that I can fix using a manual tool? I know there’s QT Repair from Digital Rebellion but this tool rebuilds the video file and it takes way too long since we’ve got too many clips to fix and if this is a metadata issue it can surely be fixed by only editing the problematic field rather then rebuilding the file.

    Hi Richard,
Are you able to open the files with QT Player?
    If so, try this:
    – Open the clip.
    – Comd-A (select all).
    – Comd-C (Copy).
    – Com-N (open new window).
    – Com-V (paste).
    – Comd-S (Save).
You will get a fresh QT File with the original media (Video, audio, TC track).
