    Hello everybody,

I’ve got a problem with a layer from a template. An error appears if a layer is turned on and his “3d layer” box is turned on.
But if I turn off the layer “please”, I don’t get an error. If this layer is on, and I put off the “3D layer” box, no error appears.
If I don’t get an error, the layer doesn’t go to the correct place. You’ll see him at the left side of the view, but it has to go from the left side to the right side, above the other layer.

    How can I repair this?

    Thank you for your comment.

A photo is missing, but the error is visible.

You’re using a text layer as a displacement map for itself and then try and turn it into a 3D layer.

There are at least two problems with that: Using the layer itself for displacement (I didn’t realize you can even do that) and, more problematically, using a 3D layer for displacement, when displacement is a 2D effect.

IF you want to displace the text by itself — which already seems pretty strange — you would to duplicate the text layer, precompose it with some sort of background (such as medium gray) and use the precomp as a displacement. More likely you don’t want to use the text but something different to displace it.

[Kalleheikki Kannisto] “Using the layer itself for displacement (I didn’t realize you can even do that)”

That is the default selection when applying the effect. Maybe he accidentally reset the effect, or the creator failed to properly set that part up.

Hello Cassius Marques and Kalleheikki Kannisto,

    Thank you for your replies.

I didn’t create this template by myself. This is an original Videohive template.
I’ve added the part of the template/ video where it’s goes wrong.

I want to see this layer exactly like you’ll see in this video.

[to Cassius] Ah, ok, obviously I’ve never used it that way… ????

In any case, based on the example video, you do want to use a different source layer than the text itself. I’d look for something which has a horizontally strethced blocky black and white animated fractal pattern on it. I’m pretty sure it will handle the issue.
