Using Vegas 13. I am matching the rendering format size exactly to the project media. Using a custom template size of 3840×2071. Are there are parameters likely giving me this error?

What is the format and source of these files Laurie? and which format custom
template are you rendering to? See, You need to be detailed in your
descriptions for anyone here to really help you.
And where is the finished render destined for the need to have it at
    a 3840×2071 resolution?
I have to ask these questions because you provided no info…

[Laurie Doering] “Using a custom template size of 3840×2071”

You just can’t pick any render size you want… it needs to be a size that the codec supports. I believe that render dimensions need to be divisible by 8 which your are not (i.e., 2071 / 8 = 258.875). That may be the “invalid argument”.
