Intra Frame Distance

I believe that’s how many frames in between “I” frames (versus “b” frames” in a video compression scheme .

I-frame distance is a type of compression scheme, as Mark notes, consisting of I, P, and B frames.
I = Intra coded frame
P = Predicted picture
B = Bi-predictive or Bi-directional picture

These options are set upon compression by adjusting the “Keyframe Distance” in your encoder of choice (Compressor, Media Encoder, Sorenson, Telestream, etc.). For a read through take look at Wikipedia:

Out of curiosity, why would need this information?

Typically people set it to half the frame rate. So if it’s a 30fps, typically people set the keyframe at 15; if it’s 24 people set the keyframe at 12. At least that’s standard practice for how I typically encode…unless you have really fast motion sequences then I may shorten the distance between I-frames.
