So I’m working a long format doc with hours of interviews from dozens of subjects. Usually I pull selects and interview soundbites onto a sequence of selects. Most of mine were multicam interviews which I’ve synched onto a sequence already.

However with so many I’d like to utilize markers in order to reference statements made. Is there a way to view sequence markers in a way similar to the tabbed out clip markers in the browser. Or is there another way to mark points in a sequence and have them easy to reference. Btw, cant believe find tool wont search markers…

Sorry, that’s the way that sequence markers work. Do a search on this forum for “sequence marker” and you’ll get some more information & some possible work arounds. Go back around 12 months or so.

If you are using a mouse with a right button you can right click on the ruler line in a sequence and see your markers listed at the bottom of the menu that appears and click on any onbe of them to move instantly to it.

You may have another issue with sequence markers. They don’t move with the underlying material.

Hope DRW’s suggestion helps. Please post back if you figure out something useful. I don’t think any of the many threads on sequence markers have ver come up with decent workflow suggestions.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

    Arnie,

You’re gonna be thanking me for this tip throughout eternity… Its one of the truely great tips for those who longform.

Unfortunately, I discovered this the day after completing a feature-length documentary that required so much jumping around on the timeline and finding scenes that I was going bonkers. Now that I use this technique I’m able to blaze imtelligently around even the longest timelines. Clients love it…

the list of markers thing works in the viewer and canvas windows, too.
    sort of.

used to be you could right or control click in the scrubbing area – that makes sen.
now you have to right or control click in the Timecode field to get the list of markers.

so you can load you sequence into the viewer, and search your markers then edit into the timeline.

with a LOT of markers, however, i actually prefer to simply use the find tool.
i find it quicker than reading thru the long list.

have to agree w everyone: FCP Markers are LAME.

cant search them in the browser.
can add them to multiclips (last time i tried, they disappeared after switching angles).
