    Hi Guys

I have a clip that is 50fps and want to convert it to 25fps. I want the clip to go normal speed then slow motion in one section then back to normal speed.

I know how to modify the whole clip when its in the project panel but it won’t let me do it from the timeline. I have done it once before but can’t remember how I did it.

Also I know I can change the speed duration to 50% but isn’t converting the frame rates true slow motion.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers
    Ben

Use time remapping to have one clip play at different speeds. The Speed/Duration… function adjusts the speed of an entire clip.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Speed/duration does do the entire clip but on the timeline I normally just cut the clip where I want it to Slow down and cut it again where I want to it to go back to normal speed. right click the clip change the the speed to 50% then all done pretty simple.. I was trying to do the same process but interpret that section on the clip to 25fps.

Does time remapping change the speeds or the framerates??

    Thanks again
    Ben

“I was trying to do the same process but interpret that section on the clip to 25fps.”

If you prefer to Interpret Footage, import a second instance of the source file and change the frame rate to 25fps.

“Does time remapping change the speeds or the framerates??”

The parameter for Time Remapping is “Speed” expressed as a percentage. Premiere Pro multiplies the Speed setting by frame rate to determine how the clip will play.

I´d make a 25 fps sequence, drop your 50fps footage, and only accelerate to 200% speed the footage you want to play at 25 fps normal speed, then when you want it to slow down, set the speed to 100%. You can do it making cuts and using the right click–>Speed/Duration option in the timeline in each cut, or using the time remapping tool for easy in/out keyframes.
