Can I make a Raid 5 arrange into a MacPro using 3 hard drives?
I plan to upgrade to 3 x 1.5 Tb units and I would like to get extra protection and extra space.
    Thanks

RAID 5 is not supported by DiskUtility. So you either need to get another software to format your drives as RAID5 (not sure if there is anything out there that does that reliably), or a hardware RAID card, which also will take care of the processing. There is an Apple RAID card (supporting RAID 5) for the MacPro, but it is $700, which I think is somewhat expensive.

Yes, you can do that with DiskUtility in Software or with the RAID card in hardware. But both ways, if one drive goes down, your data will be lost.
