  • Intermittent Synch Issues in nested sequence

Posted by Michael Moser on June 17, 2009 at 6:26 pm

Computer: Macbook Pro 2.8 Intel Core 2 Duo
    4GB RAM, FCP Studio 6.0.5

I generally don’t nest sequences, but in this case I built a string out of each of two talking heads and am using these string outs as the source to combine the two speakers into a single sequence.

I’ve found an intermittent synch offset problem when I play back the combined sequence sometimes, but not other times. Usually this happens up to the next jumpcut.

The media is on a separate FW 800 hard drive and was recorded HD, though the combined sequence and the string out are SD.
Is my computer having trouble catching up? There are no un-rendered files. Should I worry or is this just a playback issue?
The program and project file are on the internal drive.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    Thanks

Is your FW800 drive configured with HFS+ or FAT32?

This is the first time I’ve seen this. I tried a ‘show match frame’ on the combo sequence and it brought me to the correct, in synch version of the string out. Something is random here, but I don’t know what.

Still having the problem and no one has seen this??
It’s weird because it’s intermittent. I seem to be able to make it go away with a match frame and setting an edit point, but then it re-appears..
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
