  • Intermittent playback glitches after rendering.

Posted by Chas Smith on August 21, 2013 at 10:23 pm

Using SVP 10 and I’ve rendered a 4:30 video with minimal transitions, fx, etc. using the Mainconcept DVD-widescreen default.
Checking the render/playback… I’ll get a A/V glitch… like a hiccup or drop-out where the video hangs and/or the audio clips.

Now I’ve taken great care in the production chain from ingest to settings…etc. It’s not my first rodeo with Vegas as I’ve used it for years. But I can’t figure this out as I’ve re-rendered, changed settings in render, etc. Doesn’t always happen in the same spot either.

Every thing is turned off in the PC that might affect this, turned off the internet wireless connect, …still getting this anomaly.
    I’ve rebooted, turned off…walked away…came back…booted up..re-rendered… same issue. It’s nuts! I need to burn some DVD’s–Help!

    Any suggestions?

Its not impossible for your video files to directly have
some form of corruption, that maybe causing you issues.

    PC Specs?
Where are you viewing the render?
Just for grins, burn a DVD to see if the glitches are actually encoded and not a player issue.

    PC Specs:
ASUS X58 Sabertooth Mobo with 2.80ghz i7 Intel Quad-core Processor
    24GB Ram, Nvidia FX1700 GPU
    Windows 7 Pro / SVP 10

Went ahead and made a DVD to see if the glitch played on DVD player.
It played fine…so I’m guessing Stephen nailed it as far as the Windows Media Player having a hiccup. The strange thing is that the hiccups would happen at the exact same point in playback on WMP.
Maybe there’s a player update or different player I should be looking on.

    Thanks,

    Chaz

Also make sure that you are using the latest build of Vegas Pro 10.0. There were problems with Vegas Pro 10.0 rendering random black frames which were corrected by the latest updates.

VLC Media Player seems to be one of the most popular.

I had major rendering issues recently with vegas 12 and you mentioned in an older post to switch off video card acceleration in preferences and stick to 200 mb for preview. All good now feels great to get on top of it. i can render out anything now, MXF, AVC, MPEG 2…etc

Please accept my gratitude you helped me out before.

    cheers

    Ibrahim from Australia.
