I’m going to be editing a wedding that needs some correction to the footage in reference to color and brightness. I’m wondering if converting the m2t files to an intermediate codec would be advantages or if editing the m2t files would be the way to go. So far I’ve editing the actual m2t files in a couple of other projects with good results. I would be interested to know opinions on the best workflow.

    Thank you for you input.

    Hi Jan…

The answer to your question can be a little subjective. I, personally, prefer working with intermediate files. You’ll find, however, that it doesn’t take much of a CC to an HDv file to introduce a bunch of noise in the image. This is due, in most part, to the 4:2:0 color mapping of the mpeg format, so there’s nothing you can do to avoid it. As a final step, I’ve found a healthy dose of luma noise reduction works pretty well.

    Hope this helps.
