My view of the world is that an Intermediate file format = *.avi – Is this an inaccurate view?

Aside from the above does anyone have a suggestion for vegas 10.0 that doesn’t re-compress when placed on the timeline? Testing this before recommending would be fantastic as there’s definitely a bug in Vegas where video that doesn’t require re-compression is neverless being re-compressed.

    Thanks!

Not quite accurate. AVI is just a container. It’s the codec inside that’s important. For a good digital intermediary it needs to use intraframe compression and it needs to be near lossless or lossless.

Wait for Sony to fix their bug in smart-rendering. Everything else is going to render until the bug is fixed. Use Vegas Pro 9.0 for now if you can’t wait.
