Interleaved files.
I have a Premiere Pro timeline that is 105 minutes long.
It comprises a single Quick Time Movie file using the Black Magic 10 bit codec, plus a synced WAV file – stereo 48k 16-bit.When I tried to play the timeline out in Premeiere Pro, it went noticeable out of sync after about 30 minutes.
On the timeline it is most definitely in sync, so the drift only occurs in playback.
I then had the bright idea of rendering an interleaved file. I thought that if the video and audio were interleaved, they couldn’t possibly drift out of sync.
This turned out to be a disaster.
For some reason that I don’t understand, Premiere insists on conforming every audio clip it loads into 32-bit floating point. Unlike old versions, you cannot set the project settings to a particular bit-depth – sample rate, etc.
(I think this is a very odd quirk of Premiere).
And upon import of this 105 minute interleaved file, Premiere sat ‘conforming’ for about six hours (the blue bar did move up very slowly) it then crashed.
I am a bit stuck.
I am producing the Black Magic files in Combustion and need to be able to output them.
I have tried using Vegas but have had zero success – maybe because of the interleaving again.
Has anyone had a similar problem with Premiere Pro.
