Hi there, at the moment problems with interlacing are proving to be the bain of my life. I am currently working on a 45 minute Final Cut project that has been captured into the computer from various sources, uncompressed 8 bit through an AJA IO, DV, DVCAM, Cinema 4D and After Effects Graphics.

The problem is that all the uncompressed footage has come into the computer upper field first and all of the DV lower. The Project is set up as lower field first for playout as it is primaraliy a DV project.

It consists of a number of different sequences of talking heads that are joinred together by small pieces of linking dialouge. Each of the seperate sections has been editied and then nested into a new sequence to be joined by the links and graphics.

Having used the ‘shift fields’ filter on the uncompressed footage and checked the playout was fine on a monitor the sequences were then nested. This has caused the interlacing flicker to reappear on the monitor…. but only on some shots and not others. I have been able to correct most of this by reapplying the shift fields filter to the nested sequences and isolating those clips that are still causing problems. However there are some shots that are still showing signs of strobing and for some reason nothing I can do seems to cure it, Flicker Filter, De-Interlancing, Re-rendering all still prduce the same results… a very slight but noticable interlacing issue. It’s driving me nuts.

Any ideas as to why this may be if not a solution??

    Thanks
