    Hi all,

I’m having issues with a nested HDV (prores_renders) sequence in a SD Pal Timeline.
The reason I have an SD timeline is I need to export an SD quicktime Master.

Fields in HDV sequence is set to upper (odd) SD timeline is upper Odd.
Playing out the HDV timeline via my blackmagic HD card to monitor all looks fab.

BUT Rendering SD timeline (with nested HDV sequence) gives me a very bad progressive look, (two fields at once, ugly ghosting look)

    Now the weird bit…

If I go to properties on the nested sequence on the timeline it says field dominance is not set.
If I go to the properties of that SAME Sequence in the project bin, field dominance is set (upper Odd)

I’m sure this is the nub of my problem, but why does it change on the timeline? I need it to be set at upper Odd to match SD timeline properties. But it stuffs up on the timeline.

    FCP 6.0.3
    OSX 10.4.11

    Any ideas would be appreciated

    cheers

You can make a QT in SD directly from your HD sequence, either via AT conversion or Compressor. No real need to nest.
