    I don’t get this.

I am capturing footage from a Sony XDCAM deck at DV 25 res in Xpress Pro.

The footage is 16×9 native res.

One clip contains an African American man moving in the frame on a white background.

I put the clip into my timeline and add a Reformat Effect to fit it into a 4×3 space.

Video Settings are at Full Quality.

When i play the clip, i see an interlacing type of issue around the man’s chin. It looks like horrible stair stepping.

I have no idea why this is. With other clips i get a similar problem. When i play it back i can tell something is not right….like it is flickering or something, and when i stare close it is the same thing, stair stepping type problem.

Anyone know how to help me fix this? I feel like i have done nothing to get such bad quality.

Ihave never had luck with any reformat effect. A resize effect may work better for you. 77% scale on the horizontal otta do ya better. I have noticed even the letter box is aliased with reformat.

i just noticed that this same thing is occuring on a clip that has a BCC levels adjustment. for some reason even if i render the filter it stills causes a stair stepping, but if i take it off and render the clip it looks sharp.

    waht is up?

I use to think it was the card. Then 8 bit vs 10 bit. Now, it all points to their code.
I had just grown use to keeping AE and photoshop open in all sessions because of this. Now that their apps are software-driven, ram gets all fussy. This, along with the new bugs results in Adrenaline being a major downgrade from the old meridien-based products.
    at least for me.
