  • interlacing during transitions and speed changes

    hi all,

I have created an animation in MOTION 3. I have exported the scenes in pro-res. I then created a pro-res sequence in Final Cut so that i can edit them together. I added speed changes, a few extra moves and some transitions like “cube spin”. I then exported the project as a pro-res quicktime. For some reason it plays most of it beautifully except all the alterations i made in Final Cut. Speed changes, moves and transitions all look strangely interlaced and jolty. I tried removing the frame blending from the speed changes and that helped SOME of them. But the moves and transitions are still real bad. Is there a setting I can change? I have also tried all this in the animation codec as well and have the same problems. Please help.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Speed changes in FCP often cause a problem with interlace. Unticking blending may help, but it really depends on what you do. Any change in one of the basic motion parameters can get you into trouble.

Perhaps a different workflow may help. Did you try to apply the speed change in Motion (apply behavior>retiming>set speed), export the QT and then do the rest of your work in FCP?
