I have this video footage shot on mini dv at 29.97 which im editing however i cant seem to understand why I am having a weird interlace issue. Every frame has this weird interlace. if i change the field dominance to NONE or just de-interlace the clip, it cleans it up but I still feel like its not as clean as it should be. Am i bugging out after looking at HD footage for so long or am I missing something.

NTSC interlaced should look this way on a still frame with movement. on a still frame without movement you won’t see the interlace.

It really depends for what you need it. If its going to DV Tape to be shown an a SD TV you can leave it as is. Interlace always shows up on computer screens.

For Internet you need to deinterlace.

There’s always a loss when deinterlacing. As far as I know FCP Legacy and Premiere simply gets rid of one of the fields.
