I am trying to help a client who has the following problem: Their camera guy shot half of their BTS footage at 1080i 59.94 and the other half at 720p 23.98. They want the final export to be 1080 p 23.98- the problem of course being that half the footage is interlaced. The footage was shot on a Panasonic HPX-500 (if that’s important at all). Is there a relatively easy fix for this? Is there a program that can convert, at least reasonably well, interlaced to progressive? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Magic Bullet Frames does a good job with this. And you are not just de-interlacing you are changing the frame-rate which is also something that MB Frames does well.

You can test just using Compressor and turning on Frame Control.

Either way to do a good job you it will require a lot of time.
