I’m using ReelDVD here and I’m having a bear of a time with flickering text in a card at the head of a doco. Its got narration under, so I can’t just use a still, ReeelDVD does not allow that. I’m wondering if I can make that a separate item and deinterlace that part only, leaving the rest of the video interlaced??? Will that work???

    TIA,
    DRW

It might. But will likely look worse as you’ll lose important resolution.

if its flickering, then your text could be too small and or thin fontwise.

Serif fonts shouldn’t be used generally. Font sized should be a minimum of 20 pts.

Try enlarging the text or using a different font.

That should be your best option.
