Interlace problems when converting to H.264 for animated content
Hi,
I am having problems converting my animated project from HDV 1080 24 to H.264 in premiere.
I have a background with stars (a still .TIF file) and when I run the converted H.264 on a european TV, these stars create lines. The only moving element is the front animation, which works fine. The stars in the background on the other hand draw interlaced lines as soon as the front animation begins.
I presume this is an interlaced problem? For the life of me I cannot understand how to fix this problem and would be huuugely thankful for any help on the matter. It’s killing me …
My video settings when exporting to H.264 in adobe premiere are:
1920 x 1080
24fps
progressive
square pixels
PAL
Profile: high -

Have you tried messing with the Field Options for your star background layer? Right-Click on that layer, select Field Options. There you could reverse field order, deinterlace, or flicker removal. I would try there.

Thank you so much for your help! You helped me fix the problem!! It was all about the 25 fps… Also I removed a few stars and set the contrast down lower. Oh god it’s fixed, Thank you very, very much for saving my neck and for your precious time!

Thank you for your answer! Yes, actually I have played around with the Field options, but it didn’t do the trick. The problem was in fact the 24 fps which i had to change to 25 fps… Either way it feels great to have fixed the problem. A big thank you to you either way to have taken the time to answer my question, I sincerely appreciate it! ☺
