  • Interlace or strobbing issue from RENDERED footage

Captured some footage using v5.1.4 from HDV (1080i shot from a SONY HVR-A1U which is just a “FYI”). The footage looks great when I preview from the Bin, but as soon as I drag it to the timeline it needs to be rendered and then the quality is reduced. If image/subject on video is not perfectly static there is obvious (what can only be described as) interlacing issues? Or a staggering of the image? Very upsetting since I captured days of footage to use in a promo piece for a local not for profit fundraiser. I would sincerely appreciate any help/comments. –Darren

This likely means the sequence setting differs from the clip setting, so it has to match settings, depending on how you clicked. I would compare them, and see what’s right.

Great Keith…thank you. After creating a new sequence I then pressed apple Zero and changed the sequence settings to match the captured video settings. The field dominance was selected to “none” when in fact it needed to be changed to “upper”. By doing all of this the clips no longer need to be rendered. Again, Thank you!
