  • Interlace lines on moving titles

Hi guys, new to here, hope you can help.

Every time I animate titles or use some In-FCP generated graphics (for example adding a border) and then animate it sliding in or out, I get very visible “interlace” lines, at least thats what I assume they are. I have tried all settings on the De Interlace plug, I usually export using Quicktime (not conversion) for later encoding to FLV (Flash), I normally dont notice these issues, but especially if I am trying to make a desktop version in QT (H264)or (Yikes)WMF I get real nasty lines all over the place…

Is this interlacing, and how can i get rid of it?

I have no video monitor, the intended final format is on a computer screen, so therfore I need a codec/setting/format that will eliminate this fringing/interlace effect.
Could it be my sequence settings? The piece I am editing is a teaser, containing many small slips from a variety of sources, I think I may have let FCP pick a sequence setting based on the first clip I added, and it seemed to have been DV codec, lower field dominance, should I have DVC Pro (my usual shooting setting) and / or field dominance of NONE?

    Mark,

Are you working in a DV sequence? Change it to 8bit, and in your sequence settings set motion quality to best and render in high precision YUV and render.

    Have a wonderful day.

Thanks for that tip, I checked my settings and i AM at 8bit YUV (whatever that is) you do mean in the sequence settings video tab right? But my motion setting was for normal, I have changed to high now and am rendering again, let you know how I get on…

    Cheers

Its not fixed by this Im afraid, I can see some improvement in the text quality (and I AM using the built in text generator in FCP – even though now I read in this wonderfull forum (why didnt i find this sooner)that this text generator sucks)…

however the interlace lines are still there when things move. particularly on text, and also on the borders to wipe effects, and the wipes in general… instead of cleanly cutting across the screen, there is this awfull fringing on the wipe edge… Im gonna encode it for flash now (my deadline demands it) but im not happy.

It makes me think that I have been using the wrong settings forever, but never noticed cos I havent been doing any of this text animating 7 screen wiping effects before…

    any further suggestions heartily welcomed…

I have the same problem. Did someone find a solution to these stripes in the titles when moving? How to make this fluent? With deinterlace nothing happened. The same stripes are visible with title effects made in motion. I use the latest version of fcp and motion (august 2010)
