Ok… Here’s the deal. I was getting a crash error, with the message being “Out of memory – Buffer blahblah… Can’t buffer image size 1620-15557” I went crazy, used the “Secret” option, dumping every ten frames. I tried doing what it suggested, reducing Max Ram usage, increasing Cache size (or backwards… I’m not sure right now.) Either way, it’s inconsequential except to say that I looked through all the forum posts and found out some cool stuff! (Thanks, Ahron Rabinowitz… Great “fast and slow” tutorial!)

What happened is this: My project is friggin’ enormous (150+ layers, pix in the 3000X3000 range, lotsa text). It’s never had a problem with these sorts of things before. But for some reason, every time I’d render, crash-o-rama! But, thankfully enough, always on the same frame. That would be the first frame of text with a preset attached. That preset was the (text>3d ??? from behind the camera). It put two little boxes in the 3D check box, not the normal single cube. It turns out that that effect is what was killing me. By turning off the 3D option in the checkbox, all was well! The effect is a little changed, but not enough to make me want to change it up.

Now, my questions (if anyone’s still here)…

    1. Why are there two little cubes instead of one big one?
    2. Why would applying this preset cause a normal text layer to become ridiculously (15557 px) large?

Ok. Anyone have a clue for me? (Render is currenly under way, all nine should take about five or six hours.)

    Thanks for reading!
