Mike Most has been around a while and I totally see where he is coming from.

On a previous thread someone asked a question about DaVinci falling out of favor in big facilities. Peter Chamberlain said.

A great question: The old DaVinci did fall behind in some
feature areas while zoomed ahead in many others. (4k GPU based non
cache processing and real time stereo were delivered in 2008 for
    example)

AAF, MXF and XML support multiple layers when conforming and DaVinci can only do EDL. I haven’t done a project in the past 5 years that was single layer and not being able to export a multilayer project to conform is going to be kinda a nightmare.

I think the did fall behind in some feature areas is about conforming tools. It seems like DaVinci will be somewhat of a conforming nightmare, but hopefully its worth it.

My understanding is that they are working hard to get XML support (This was during NAB).

    Has this been achieved?

Thanks for recommending my mini-review Peter!

Like I said “You can take any project, with great ease, from any offline software on the market and get it into Resolve without batting an eyelid.”

I am afraid Mike M. himself is a bit behind times. Beside EDL, Resolve supports AAF, even if it’s just a single layer timeline. I would say it’s a bit premature to cast Resolve aside, as it’s not out yet…
