    Hello-

Editing with FCP 5.1 on two fully loaded powermac Quads, and using the text tool to layout some text over black… Usually use boris for this job, as the font has 20 iterations, but why won’t the text appear as it was on one machine as it appears on another? the fonts are all available on both machines, but some minor visual differences and offsets seem to have creeped in and would require some minor editing- and when that happens the font becomes the wrong version/iteration/style of the font. Is this a final cut error or a font issue? Does this even make sense? Am I condemned to go back to Boris(and hence crashville)?

    Thanks in advance,

There’s about 5 places that fonts can be on your G5. It’s possible, that you have the same font, but from different makers on the problem machine. Fonts with the same name, but from different vendors are often similar, but different enough to cause issues like you’re experiencing. Also, you may have the correct version in your home folder, but the wrong version in you system font folder, etc. and the wrong version is getting loaded first. Anyway, that’s one possibility for your problem.
